The Oahu FanForce was at Aina Haina Public Library on Saturday, May 1st, 2010 from 10 AM to 2 PM to promote Free Comic Book Day! Keeping in line with our desire to "Make a Difference" in the community, we joined forces with Rebel Legion Hawaii to encourage youngsters to read. Free Comic Book Day is held annually on the first Saturday in May. Participating comicbook shops across North America and around the world give away comicbooks absolutely FREE to anyone who comes into their stores. Aina Haina Public Library has also been graciously including themselves in this wonderful endeavor.

The doors opened at 10 AM and, already, there were a bunch of people eagerly waiting to get their hands on their free comicbook. All they needed to do was show their current Hawaii State Library Card and the comic was theirs.

In costumed attendance were Oahu FanForce Chapter Representative Pac-El, Oahu Fanforce member and Rebel Legion Hawaii State Captain Jay Tee Erricck, and Rebel Legion Hawaii member Tig West as General Han Solo. The trio posed for photos with children and even signed autographs. Some of the shy children eventually warmed up to the Jedi's and the General waving goodbye as they happily left with their comicbooks in hand.

The Oahu FanForce would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to those who helped out at the Free Comic Book Day event. An extra special thank you goes out to Lauren Yamasaki of Aina Haina Public Library for allowing us to be a part of an event we will not soon forget.
