AMENDMENT I. Semi-Annual Meeting Location Change

ARTICLE I. Oahu FanForce Formation and Organization

The name of our organization is called the Oahu FanForce and is the official chapter of the international Star Wars fan organization known as FanForce, a division of TheForce.net, and covers the island of Oahu in Hawaii. We are a "not-for-profit" club of Star Wars fans and costumers who celebrate all things Star Wars. Interested people on the neighboring islands are also welcome to join. Our club was established in May of 2001 and became an official chapter of FanForce on July 5th, 2001. This charter was ratified March 27th, 2010. The Oahu FanForce is not affiliated in any way with Lucasfilm, Ltd., or its subsidiaries.

ARTICLE II. Purpose

The Oahu FanForce shall:

1. Gather together Hawaii-based Star Wars fans who are members, and people interested in becoming members, of Oahu FanForce.

2. Hold Star Wars and Oahu FanForce related meetings, and events.

3. Be involved in occasional external charitable events in order to make a difference in society and give back to the community.

4. Attend Star Wars related movie premieres and special events.

5. Have fun exploring our fandom in all things related to Star Wars.

ARTICLE III. Motto: Make A Difference

On February 8th, 2010, the Oahu FanForce adopted the motto "Make A Difference". The Oahu FanForce will strive to "make a difference" in the community through its involvement in, and/or attendance at, external charitable events.

ARTICLE IV. Non-Discrimination

The Oahu FanForce does not discriminate on the basis of age, gender, religion, physical handicap, sexual orientation, race, nationality or ethnicity.

ARTICLE V. Membership

Per FanForce rules, membership is open to all ages and NO ONE IS REQUIRED to own a Star Wars costume to become a member and join in on the fun. Select members of the Oahu FanForce, however, ARE costumers. If a member has a Star Wars related costume or chooses to create a costume for his or herself for use in our "formal" events, then please see ARTICLE XVIII. To become a "forum member" of Oahu FanForce you must:

1. Be a current resident in Hawaii. (Although the Oahu FanForce's specific region is the island of Oahu only and that events are scheduled to happen on Oahu, membership is also open to residents throughout the Hawaiian islands.)

2. Create a character username on the main FanForce boards located at http://boards.theforce.net/Login/Register.aspx.

3. Post on the Oahu FanForce board to announce your new membership.

4. Attend our events and meetings regularly, after you've completed the steps above, to become an "Active Member".

5. Understand and agree that you will probably be photographed at meetings and events from time-to-time. Your likeness and your voice that is captured in these images (photo, audio and video) will be used to promote Oahu FanForce. We mean no harm... it's all part of the fun. For privacy purposes, your real name will NEVER be used on any video production, audio production, print advertisements, or on the internet by Oahu FanForce.

ARTICLE VI. Membership Dues

There are NO membership dues.

ARTICLE VII. Membership Classes

There are two membership classes:

1. Active Member: describes a Hawaii resident member registered on the FanForce boards who actively attends Oahu FanForce functions on a regular basis. To keep this classification, a member must also post on the Oahu FanForce boards at least once a month and sign-in to the board regularly. If an "active member" misses two events in a year, he or she will continue to be considered an "active member". Exceptions are definitely allowed if there are issues beyond a member's control. Just notify the Chapter Representative how long your absence will be.

2. Forum Member: describes a Hawaii resident member registered on the FanForce board who posts on the Oahu FanForce boards at least once a month but does not attend Oahu FanForce functions. To keep this classification, a member must post on the Oahu FanForce boards at least once a month and sign-in to the board regularly. Exceptions are definitely allowed if there are issues beyond a member's control. Just notify the Chapter Representative how long your absence will be.

If a member has not attended three (3) consecutive Oahu FanForce events and has not posted on the Oahu FanForce board in three (3) months without prior notification, he or she will be placed on inactive status. Active status can be easily regained by attending events and posting regularly.

ARTICLE VIII. Official Meetings

There will be two (2) official Oahu FanForce meetings a year, known as the “Semi-Annual Meeting”, where members will discuss issues and the current and future plans for the group. The first will be scheduled in April and the second in October. All meetings will be considered “informal” events. A classification which is described in ARTICLE IX. Unless there is an unforeseen circumstance, these meetings will be held, as a nod to Oahu FanForce history, at Pizza Hut in Stadium Mall, 4510 Salt Lake Boulevard in Honolulu, Hawaii. Each member is responsible for his or her own bill. All Oahu FanForce members are welcome to attend.
Amendment I 4/21/2012: Due to the closing of the original meeting location, unless there is an unforeseen circumstance, the Oahu FanForce Semi-Annual meetings will be considered "pot-luck" and held at Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park, 94-801 Kamehameha Highway in Waipahu, Hawaii.

ARTICLE IX. Events

Events which are specifically created by the Oahu FanForce and/or attended by members of the Oahu FanForce.

Oahu FanForce events can range from, but are not limited to, social gatherings to movie premieres. All Active Members of the Oahu FanForce are allowed to represent the group at events while displaying proper conduct. All Oahu FanForce members are welcome to attend any event.

There are two event classes:

1. Formal: describes an event where members of Oahu FanForce dress in a Star Wars costume, if they have one. Members are not required to dress in costume if they do not have one, but are requested to wear an Oahu FanForce logo if available. All members are welcome to attend.

2. Informal: An "informal" event is a casual attired gathering of Oahu FanForce members. These events can range from, but are not limited to, official Oahu FanForce meetings to a picnic in the park. Members are encouraged to wear an Oahu FanForce logo, if available, to help promote the group.

ARTICLE X. Drugs, Tobacco, Alcohol, and Weapons

All Oahu FanForce members and their guests are not allowed to bring and/or use illegal drugs or consume alcohol, at an Oahu FanForce event or meeting. Also, members and their guests are not allowed to consume tobacco at an Oahu FanForce event or meeting in an effort to maintain a proper image for the group. With the exception of Star Wars prop weapons that aren't intended to create physical harm, no working firearms, actual swords or knives, or any other object commonly defined as "weapons" are allowed at Oahu FanForce meetings and events.

ARTICLE XI. Code of Conduct

All Oahu FanForce members and guests are expected to behave respectfully and courteous when representing the group as a member. When members are in costume, they are required to always conduct themselves in a tasteful and professional manner. Oahu FanForce members are expected to be courteous and respectful towards their fellow members, the greater Star Wars community, and the general public.

1. Members must not use foul language, obscene gestures, and the use of alcohol or tobacco is prohibited at Oahu FanForce functions.

2. Members must never use their costumes for any profit-making endeavor (personal, political, or religious), other than those related to or affiliated with the Star Wars franchise, under the Oahu FanForce banner.

3. Members must never disparage any fellow costumer, fellow member of the Oahu FanForce, or member of any other costume club/group in public.

4. Members must not cause any disharmony within our club or in the Star Wars community.

5. Members must always show respect and appreciation to those who wear real uniforms for our safety: our military, police, fire fighters, and paramedics.

6. The Oahu FanForce will not tolerate discrimination on the grounds of sex, race, religion, creed, nationality, sexual orientation, or physical handicap.

7. The Oahu FanForce will not tolerate the practice of sexual misconduct or sexual harassment by any of its members. This includes unwelcome conduct that violates applicable local laws concerning sexual harassment and inappropriate conduct of a sexual nature.

8. Acting in a threatening or violent manner, theft, and illegal substance abuse are all prohibited, as they are unacceptable behavior in a professional environment.

9. All members, whether in costume or not, must NEVER point a weapon, real or otherwise, at a child. It is generally accepted to pose with a child with the "firearm" or lightsaber away from the child, or, in the case of a young fellow costumer, "crossing-blades" is accepted.

10. Members who use the Oahu FanForce Website, or the FanForce forum will obey the rules and regulations set forth by the site administrators.

It is generally outside the scope of this club's jurisdiction to discipline members for their behavior outside of Oahu FanForce activities. However, the Oahu FanForce reserves the right to discipline members for their actions in accordance with the Code of Conduct. The decision to discipline members for their actions outside the Oahu FanForce is at the discretion of the group.

Any member who violates the Code of Conduct will be subject to disciplinary action, which may include termination from FanForce.

ARTICLE XII. Misconduct

While it is hoped that no member must be expelled from the group, it is prudent to have measures in place should the need arise. If any member of the club feels that another member should be expelled, that person is encouraged to approach the Chapter Representative with his or her complaint. The complaint must be in writing and delivered via PM, email, or written letter to the Chapter Representative who will begin an investigation and discussion of the complaint, and determine the best course of action.

General Misconduct:

1. Any person attending an Oahu FanForce meeting or event who acts disorderly or is in any way disruptive (whether a member or a guest of a member) will be asked to leave the meeting or event.

2. Consumption or possession of illegal substances or possession of weapons by members at an Oahu FanForce event are not allowed.

3. Consumption of alcohol by members is not permitted at Oahu FanForce events. No alcohol or tobacco should be consumed in public view by any member while representing the group. Anyone violating the rule will be asked to leave the meeting or event.

4. Any violation of the Terms of Service at FanForce will be considered a violation of Oahu FanForce by-laws. If a permanent ban vote is passed by 3/5 of the members, that member will be banned from attending all future meetings/events, and banned from posting on the FanForce and Oahu FanForce groups. The Oahu FanForce will actively seek a restraining order against any member if deemed necessary to protect the other members.

Conduct that justifies expulsion:

1. Engaging in any illegal activity while attending a club function.

2. Threatening another member with physical violence on the forums or during a meeting or event.

3. Committing physical violence against another member.

4. Harassing or stalking another member via email, phone, text, PM, instant messenger, or written letter.

5. Repeated unsolicited sexual advances toward another member.

The Oahu FanForce reserves the right to call in local law enforcement officers to enforce these rules.

ARTICLE XIII. Solicitation

Members are not allowed to solicit other members, guests, friends or family of members, event or meeting attendees, or the general public for business, product sales, religious purposes, or membership recruitment other than FanForce related.

"Business" is defined as, but not limited to:

1. Pyramid schemes.

2. Multi-level marketing.

3. Network marketing.

4. Any other type of sales from any other type of business.

Any member caught soliciting while at an Oahu FanForce meeting or event will be given a verbal reminder of this article. A second attempt by the member will result in he or she being immediately asked to leave the meeting or event. It is a member's responsibility to reject solicitation and report it to the Chapter Representative.

ARTICLE XIV. Underage Members

Anyone, regardless of age, may become a member, post on the forums, and attend official meetings and events. However, anyone under 18 years of age will be required to attend official meetings and events with a parent or legal guardian.

ARTICLE XV. Website

The official Oahu FanForce website, launched on March 28th, 2010, is located on the internet at http://www.OahuFanForce.com. The website shall be used as an online "home" for people wanting to know more about the group and is not intended to be a substitute for, replace, or take focus away from the core Oahu FanForce board located at http://boards.theforce.net/Boards/Board.aspx?brd=10251&page=1

ARTICLE XVI. Aliases

For the sake of privacy, members of Oahu FanForce are to use their "aliases" or "screennames" when being referred to. Likewise, a member's real name should never and will never be used anywhere on either the Oahu FanForce board or the Oahu FanForce website.

ARTICLE XVII. Guests

Spouses, significant others and children of the official members are welcome to attend events and activities. The inviting member is solely responsible for the supervision of their guest(s). We also welcome new people interested in joining the fan club. All the individuals listed in this paragraph are considered Guests and are still expected to act in a respectful manner and follow our Code of Conduct (See ARTICLE XI) for the duration of their visit. Guests do not have the privileges that official members have so they are asked to be respectful if they are present during the official club business and decision-making.

ARTICLE XVIII. Costuming

As mentioned in ARTICLE V, FanForce rules specify that NO ONE IS REQUIRED to own a Star Wars costume to become a member. Select members of the Oahu FanForce, however, ARE costumers and make costumed appearances at events which are considered "formal" events (of which non-costuming members are still welcome to attend). If a member has a Star Wars related costume or chooses to create a costume for his or herself for use in our "formal" events, then they are required to abide by some simple costume requirements. These requirements are not extreme and primarily take into consideration the image of Oahu FanForce.

1. A costume can be of any character that has already been featured in an official Star Wars movie, TV show, novel, book, or any other Star Wars related LucasFilm, LucasArts or officially licensed production.

2. A costume can be created from any FanFiction storyline or self-created character as long as it fits within the parameters of this article.

3. A costume must be of a relatively decent quality. We're not asking for your costume to fall within the strict standards of the Jedi Assembly or Rebel Legion, but just make sure your costume is presentable and that it would fit in the Star Wars universe.

4. Because there are children at the events we attend, it is important that ALL costumes be tasteful, respectful, and not rude or vulgar. No nudity is allowed at anytime. No sexual innuendo should ever be involved in a member's costume.

5. ALL members are required to adhere to the "Code of Conduct" stated in ARTICLE XI especially while in costume at an official Oahu FanForce event.

ARTICLE XIX. Right to Amend

Oahu FanForce reserves the right to amend this charter when the need arises. The submission for amendment will be voted upon at a scheduled Oahu FanForce meeting. Any member that wishes to vote must be present at said meeting. The results will be posted on the Oahu FanForce website at http://www.OahuFanForce.com/charter.php and announced on the Oahu FanForce board at http://boards.theforce.net/Boards/Board.aspx?brd=10251&page=1.

AMENDMENT I. Semi-Annual Meeting Location Change - Ratified April 21st, 2012

In an amendment to ARTICLE VIII, due to the closing of the original meeting location, unless there is an unforeseen circumstance, the Oahu FanForce Semi-Annual meetings will be considered "pot-luck" and held at Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park, 94-801 Kamehameha Highway in Waipahu, Hawaii.
